Academy Journalism

Local artist Paul Stanton visited the Academy Journalism club at Pierre Laclede Junior Career Academy on February 15 to discuss local black history, his portraits of historic black people from the St. Louis area (such as Annie Malone, Josephine Baker, Dick Gregory, Arthur Ashe and Chuck Berry), and his practice as an artist generally. He works out of the Artists First studio in Maplewood (http://www.artistsfirststl.org). Academy Journalism is a collaboration between Saint Louis Public Schools and The St. Louis American founded by DaMaris White, principal of Pierre Laclede.
