Mama Lisa, known and loved around town for teaching young people their history through storytelling, song and dance, will be presenting the 7th Annual Spring Conference of GUMBO, a cultural arts education conference for children and adults. For this installment, Mama Lisa and Fundisha Enterprises are offering A Celebration of World African Dance. Ghanaian techniques will be the main focus, with classes in language, music and dance. Nii Tetty Tetteh, a native of the Republic of Ghana will serve as instructor.

The along with Mama Lisa will also present the Kusun Ensemble, an extraordinary group of musicians and dancers from Ghana, West Africa, in a special Mother’s Day performance with live music, song and dance. Their music has been described as “a dramatic fusion of bass and lead guitars, jazz rhythms and traditional Ghanaian instruments.”
