The St. Louis American Foundations’ 25th Salute to Excellence in Education was a roaring success. I had the pleasure of chatting with many new and old friends and supporters of this distinguished gala. The Dinner General Co-Chairs Honorable Michael McMillan (City of St. Louis License Collector) and Vanessa Foster Cooksey (Anheuser-Busch Inbev) hosted a magnificent evening.  The room was absolutely packed, with more than 1,300 attendees. Sidebar, Dinner Co-Chair Michael Kennedy Jr. is featured in this month’s issue of Ebony Magazine. Our publisher, Donald M. Suggs, gave a heartfelt welcome to all in attendance and showed much appreciation for all who worked so hard to make the event a success. The evening was memorable; all awardees had exceptional video presentations. Most memorable quote, Judge Jimmie Edwards when expressing his commitment to educating our youth “What we fail to do today…will haunt us tomorrow.”

I loved The Jazz Edge who provided entertainment throughout dinner. Two post-gala venues, the Bud Light Platinum Party featuring DJ Spinderella and DJ Phill B’ and the J. Hill Jazz Cabaret featuring Denise Thimes, were definitely memorable.

Enjoyed catching up with many while transiting both parties including Photography Hall of Famer Wiley Price, Stacy (Mrs. Jimmie) Edwards, Alison Singfield (Congressman Lacy Clay staffer ), Celeste Keith Metcalf (State of Missouri Equal Opportunity Director) Damion Trasada (J.Nixon Campaign), Angela Brown, Don McCullin, Hon.Paula Bryant, Richard Banks, Eric and Angela Rhone, Monroe Smith, Ron Smith, Kenny Murdock (Murdock Report), Joyce Robinson, Eric Banks, Esq., Judges George and Judy Draper, Gwen Belle (Wells Fargo), Michele Berry (Wells Fargo), Joyce Robinson (SLPL), Lisa Norwood, Carol Dixon (AAA), Sherry Epting (A-B Inbev), Mary Ellen Anderson, Gerri Miller, Jordan Bosman, Aleta Grimes, Connie Gladney Agard (SLCC), Judy Gladney Vickers, Barbara Broussard, Pam Broussard Patelis, Helen Williams, Susan and James Buford (Urban League), Janet and Jimmy Williams, Virvus Jones and our next St. Louis City Treasurer Tishaura Jones.
