Loyal listeners who turned on their radios with the dial tuned in to 104.9 FM this morning were in for the shock of their lives as Majic moved from its longtime home at 104.9 to 100.3 as Clear Channel St. Louis introduced Wild 104.9 – a “party hits” format.

The switch to was made at 9 a.m.

Jacor Broadcasting famously moved Majic from its longstanding 107.7 (Majic 108). After buying 104.9, 107.7 and 100.3 from Jacor in 1999, Clear Channel turned the frequency into a top 40/pop station Z-107.7 (KSLZ) and changed 100.3 into urban hip-hop station 100.3 The Beat.

Before the switch Majic had resided at 107.7 with the KMJM call letters since 1979.

A local radio industry insider says that 100.3 has a much stronger signal that the 104.9 FM frequency.
