After waiting on edge for a week because of voting glitches due to Hurricane Irene, what many believed would happen on the Sunday Best finale became official.
When the text, online and call in votes were tallied St. Louis’ own Amber Bullock stood as the winner of BET’s top rated gospel singing competition for 2011.
The two hour finale show also broadcasted stellar performances from gospel music artists such as Pastor Shirley Caesar, Yolanda Adams, Lecrae, VaShawn Mitchell, Zebulon Ellis, Jessica Reedy and Rance Allen.
There was a special performance in honor of the late gospel music legend Mahalia Jackson's 100th birthday by past Sunday Best winners Crystal Aikin, Y'Anna Crawley and Le’Andria Johnson.
As the winner, Bullock will take home a 2011 Ford Explorer, an undisclosed cash prize, a national recording contract and the coveted title of Sunday Best.
