. Since I’m on the topic of pizzazz, I might as well say that y’all really pulled out your good clothes for Salute 25! I mean really….! Y’all must have strategically planning since Salute 23 to play it cool you’re your formal wear for 24 so you can knock it out the box for the Silver Anniversary. (For those of you who weren’t there, hit us up at stlamerican.com and you’ll see about 200 photos from the event). Anyway, I really only saw a handful of episodes of “When Bad Wigs Happen to Good People” and “Formal Wear Gone Wild” put together! Everybody looked so good that it made my job of selecting this year’s best is all bad because it was so hard to decide. Natural hair seemed to rule the night and the styles ran the gamut – in a good way! Naretha Hopson’s textured-up do was so snatched that I’m thinking of jacking it for next year! Ebony Sistrunk showed the folks just how classy a natural crop can be! And hardworking volunteer Linda Robinson’s big wavy mane had me humming a Diana Ross medley every time she breezed by to handle business. As far as the fashion, Kira Van Niel’s patent leather peep toes were everything with respect to cutting edge formal footwear. And Candace Jefferson’s beaded clutch…enough said. And I’m just going to put Mary Winbush in the Hall of Fame and be done with it. But if I had to go with a top pick head to toe for 2012, I think the prize belongs to the American’s own Barb Sills-McElroy. She SERVED grown woman elegance top to bottom, girl…top…to…bottom! That black bow-neck floor length empire waist flowing black gown was fit for First Lady Michelle Obama!
