Tomorrow morning the Board of Police Commissioners will hold a special board meeting. On the agenda is the process of selecting a new St. Louis police chief.
The University of Missouri-St. Louis announced Monday that the school had selected St. Louis Police Chief Dan Isom for its nationally ranked Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
Isom will be retiring on January 1, 2013.
The department said Isom will spend his remaining time focusing on addressing crime in the city, finalizing plans for the new headquarters building and assisting in implementing any new changes for the department.
State law requires the St. Louis police chief be selected from within the department among the ranks of captain or above. The new police chief will be announced in November.
