Tell us about your current professional position, its responsibilities, and your accomplishments as an individual and team.
Currently, I am the chief compliance officer (CCO) at CareSTL Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in North St. Louis City and County. In this role, I am responsible for establishing and implementing an effective compliance program to prevent illegal, unethical or improper conduct. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, I implement, review, and develop compliance protocols, performance objectives, productivity benchmarks, compliance measures, workflow planning, and scheduling. Also, in this position I serve as a coach, mentor, and trainer to staff, giving guidance in best practices, troubleshooting of services, and compliance issues in priority of urgency.
I also represent CareSTL Health at required meetings with affiliated agencies. I am the liaison between the staff, the CEO, and the Board of Directors by monitoring and reporting results of the compliance and ethics efforts of the company and in providing guidance for the board and senior management team on matters relating to compliance.
One of my personal accomplishments includes streamlining policy and procedure management for CareSTL Health by implementing an electronic compliance portal, available to all staff. The compliance portal also includes annual training modules and curriculum I developed relating to HIPAA, OSHA, Fraud Waste and Abuse, and Emergency Preparedness.
As a member of the team, I helped create an award-winning video for the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) that was recognized by the CDC for the health center's initiative in the Million Hearts Program, which emphasizes hypertension prevention and control.

Please tell us about any important mentors or leaders who guided you.
My first and most supportive mentor who has influenced me throughout my life is my mom, Zelma "Jean" Jones. She recognized my potential at a young age and afforded me all the opportunities, within reach, to expose me to different experiences that expounded my knowledge base to ensure I was well-rounded. My mom instilled in me a strong work ethic and has always held me to a high standard.
I am grateful for mentorship by the CEO of CareSTL Health, Angela R. Clabon, who has pushed me to advance my career.
My life has been touched by so many others who have encouraged and motivated me to reach my highest potential including my family, past and current co-workers, peers in professional and civic/social organizations, and my Sigma Gamma Rho sorority sisters.
Please tell us about any personal or family matters you would like to share.
Although life is full of change, the love in my family remains constant. My husband, Joseph, keeps me grounded and is my voice of reason. My sister, LaJuana, is the person who continuously reminds me of the value of family and the importance of my village. My mother is my lifeline because I can always depend on her. I am forever grateful for the support and encouragement that I have received from my entire family throughout my life.
