In short, what do you do?

I am a Mentor for teen girls (13-17), a Life Coach for women (18+), a Career Coach for men and women and an Apparel Designer for teen girls and women.  Above all else, I am a philanthropist.  My 2nd Annual Laptop Fundraiser (Prize & Shine Presents…Christmas In June) for teen girls who are accepted/attending college will take place Summer 2019.  I’ve also spearheaded/assisted with local food/sock drives, sanitary items for homeless women, microphone fundraiser for local comedian and I’ve sponsored many small businesses/entrepreneurs.

At what age did you feel that you could become a “coach” and why?

Growing up, I suffered from low self-esteem, abandonment issues and depression.  As a young adult, I strived for societal success and academic excellence, but wasn’t fulfilled professionally. At the age of 35, I had no clue who I was. I continuously lived for others in hopes of getting it back in return.  Others became my void fillers and I was consistently disappointed by their actions, or lack thereof.  Through many counseling sessions and revelations, I was gifted with hope, the gift that keeps on giving.  I wanted to be that pillar of strength and voice for other women.  One month later, Prize & Shine Life Coaching/Mentoring, LLC was born!

Please share an example of a special, uplifting success story of someone you have coached:

On the verge of suicide, an out of town client reached out to me (after seeing a social media post) in need of help in all aspects of her life.  She had been abused in every way most of her life and was completely broken.  Almost two years later, she has completely transformed for the better!  Once timid, she now has a voice.  Once unsure, she now knows her worth.  Once afraid of life, she now is living!  I’m so proud of her!

How did you become interested in pursuing your own startup? Did you have a mentor or receive any helpful guidance?

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and love helping people.  It only made sense to start my own.  I never thought I’d have three businesses though!  I have met and remained friends with many accountability partners, but my mentor (Denise DeCou – Washington University in St. Louis) has been instrumental throughout this journey.  She’s so well connected and offers great advice.  My ultimate goal is to become a household name through the services/merchandise that I provide and leave behind a legacy for years to follow.

What are you most passionate about in your professional life?

As an advocate for women and a lover of all people, I am passionate about helping others meet and sustain their true potential and purpose.  I love seeing the evolution from what once was to an endless amount of possibilities, faith and hope.  My clients fuel me to continue on.  I often read their testimonials (prize-and-shine.com) when I need a pick me up.  That’s validation that I am living in my God given purpose.  I’ve never been happier or more fulfilled.
