Jah'son McCarter and Brittany Hawthorne

Jah’son McCarter - Riverview Gardens, Boys Track and Field

The junior sprinter was one of the top individual performers at last week’s Henle Holmes Invitational at Parkway Central.

McCarter was a double winner as he took home first-place medals in the 200- and 400-meter dash events. McCarter won the 200 with a time of 22.26 seconds and the 400 in a time of 50.04. McCarter also set new personal bests in winning both events.

Brittany Hawthorne - Lafayette, Girls Track and Field

The senior throwing standout was the individual champion in the discus at the Henle Holmes Invitational at Parkway Central.

Hawthorne won the competition with a throw of 126 feet, which was a new personal best for the event. She accomplished the feat on her first throw of the competition. Her efforts helped the Lancers to the team championships.

As a junior, Hawthorne was a state qualifier in the discus after winning a district championship and finishing second in the sectional meet.
