With the team struggling mightily, the St. Louis Blues were still leading the National Hockey League in attendance. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the team has experienced the largest drop in attendance from last year.
The best way to make up that difference is to attract more minority fans. It’s time for the Blues to openly market to African Americans by highlighting the skills of the Blues minority players - Jamal Mayers and Bryce Salvadore - and also those of visiting teams.
On Friday night (Nov. 4), the Edmonton Oilers and Georges Laraque are at the Savvis Center. A black player, Laraque is one of the toughest guys in the NHL and packs not only a punch, but also solid defensive skills. He now teams with former Blue Chris Pronger.
