Henry Leo Vincent passed away on June 5, 2012. Leo, as he was called was born July 19,1928 in St. Louis, Missouri, the only son of Henriene Franklin and James Leo Vincent.
He was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools, graduating from Sumner High School. Leo graduated from Lincoln University and Harris Stowe Teacher’s College, receiving his certification in Elementary Education. At Lincoln University, he majored in instrumental music education.
Upon his return after serving in the Korean War, he worked for the U.S, Postal Service and Bi-State. Leo was among the first group of African American bus drivers at Bi-State. Leo was best known for his love of photography and jazz music. He was a life long member of Union Memorial United Methodist Church. Leo was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity since 1949.
Leo is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carrie (Young) Vincent, his daughter Deirdre (Vincent) Woodard and his only grandchild, Karolyn Gena Woodard. Leo leaves a host of former students, family, co-workers and friends. He will be missed.
