Free screening May 3

A free health screening program will be held Saturday, May 3 at New Sunny Mount Missionary Baptist Church. It is offered by the National Kidney Foundation of Eastern Missouri, Metro East for individuals at increased risk of developing kidney disease.

You should attend if you are 18 years or older and have a parent, brother or sister with diabetes, high blood pressure or kidney disease, or if you have high blood pressure or diabetes.

The screening takes about 30 minutes and consists of a brief health questionnaire, blood pressure reading and urine tests for signs of diabetes and kidney disease.

The following tests will be conducted:

• Urine dipstick test for hematuria

• Urine dipstick test for microalbumin

• Urine dipstick test for pyuria

The National Kidney Foundation works to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well-being of individuals and families suffering from these diseases, and to increase the availability of all organs for transplantation.

The screening takes place on Saturday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the New Sunny Mount Fellowship Hall – Hunter Hall, 4638 West Florissant Ave. Space is limited and appointments are recommended. For appointments or further information, call (314) 961-2828.
