An off-duty St. Louis firefighter shot and killed Wednesday night. Leonard Riggins, 52, came upon the crash scene at the intersection of Spring Garden and Glasgow drives in North County yesterday afternoon around 5 p.m.
After shooting Riggins, the man took Riggins’ department vehicle and eventually crashed at the intersection of Spring Garden and Riverview drives.
The suspect initiated a gun battle with police and was subsequently fatally shot at the scene.
Riggins died shortly after arriving at Christian Northeast Hospital.
