“Obedience leads to the harvest.”

The simple, yet profound statement inspired by the words of Hebrews 13:17 serves as the theme for the Christian Assembly Fellowship’s 11th Annual Conference.

For years the conference was a tool to maintain and strengthen relationships among the eight churches that fall under the Christian Assembly Fellowship, Inc. umbrella – Bethel, San Francisco East, Covenant, San Francisco Temple Complex, Brotherly Love West, Renaissance Temple, Upper Room Fire and Glory Temple.

However, in an illustration of “practicing what you preach” Bishop Dwight H. McDaniels Jr., presiding Bishop of the Christian Assembly Fellowship, Inc. and pastor of San Francisco Temple Complex Christian Assembly, took the words to heart. He followed divine orders to be inclusive for the 11th Annual Conference taking place next week (Aug. 11 – 16) at the San Francisco Temple Complex Christian Assembly.

“The bishop heard from God and He said, ‘Reach out beyond your establishment,’ said Pastor Willie R. McMiller Sr., pastor of Brotherly Love West Christian Assembly Church. “He is reaching out to others in the body of Christ for unity. And as we reached out, God did a wonderful thing.”

With their pre-conference activities, the Christian Assembly Fellowship, Inc. were joined by the Rev. Ronald L. Bobo of Westside MB Church and Pastor Michael Jones of Friendly Temple MB Churchs – who delivered powerful messages as a precursor to what was to come in the conference.

Faith leaders from a host of denominations will be featured speakers from local and national houses of worship – including Dr. F. James Clark, pastor and founder of Shalom Church (City of Peace); Prophetess Janice Mixon, founder and president, A Call to Arms Ministry, Waco TX; and Mother Rosetta Watts, supervisor of Women Department, C.O.G.I.C., Eastern MO/Western IL., Jurisdiction #2.

“We have been divided so long – people saying ‘I’m Baptist, I’m AME, I’m COGIC’ and so on,” McDaniels said. “People should have fellowship together. If we have God, we can love over all of the differences and get along.”

“The task that God has given us is more than our organization can accomplish alone,” McMiller said.

“We need to network with each other and build some cohesiveness within the church, so that those that have not found help anywhere else can come here.”

Christian Assembly embraces the notion of a united front against the ills of the world. And through their annual conference they hope to move people closer to diversity in faith.

“When people can look on the platform and see leaders working together, it will change their mindset as to what the body of Christ really is,” McMiller said.

“The conference will help us discover how we are going to tear down these denominational walls, reach God as one and reap this harvest that God is going to send.”
