Seventeen high school seniors who participated in the Bridge Program at the University of Missouri-St. Louis were awarded scholarships to UMSL for the 2006-07 academic year.
The Bridge Program, operated by the College of Education at UMSL, provides high school students with educational experiences that help them achieve their academic potential. The goal is to increase the number of high school graduates who attend college and the number of students who pursue careers in math and science fields.
The Margaret Bush-Wilson Scholarship is given to outstanding Bridge Program participants. The $2,500 scholarship is renewable for up to four years with a 2.5 accumulative grade-point average.
The Monsanto Scholarship is given to top-ranked Bridge Program participants who plan to major in mathematics, computer science, biology, chemistry or physics. The $2,000 scholarship is renewable for up to four years with a 3.0 accumulative GPA.
The students received the scholarships during an awards banquet on Saturday at UMSL.
