Six years ago Judy Bentley, president and CEO of Community Health-In-Partnership Services (CHIPS), started a 5K Run/Walk in North St. Louis. Bentley wanted to make the members of the community feel proud that a professionally managed race was being held in their neighborhood.

This year, Express Scripts and Pfizer have joined on as major corporate sponsors. Beaumont and Sumner High School bands will energize the crowd, and Fox 2 News reporter Bonita Cornute will be the mistress of ceremonies.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the warm up will begin at 8 a.m. The 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Walk all start at 8:30 a.m. There will be trophies and medals for the top runners, free food, entertainment and fun activities for children. All activities will be held in North St. Louis at CHIPS on the corner of Grand and North Market. Call (314) 652-9231 or visit www.chipsstl.org.
