The College of Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis has
been named the 2006 recipient of the Best Practice Award for the
Innovative Use of Technology by the American Association of Colleges for
Teacher Education.
The national award, which recognizes the innovative use of educational
technology, will be presented this month during the association’s
annual meeting in San Diego.
UMSL’s College of Education operates the E. Desmond Lee Technology and
Learning Center, which includes networked workstations and specialized
equipment for developing and carrying out technology-based projects.
“This award is a clear indication of the College of Education’s
dedication toward preparing technologically innovative and knowledgeable
graduates,” said Charles Schmitz, dean of the college. “Since its
inception five years ago, the Technology and Learning Center has
attracted over 275,000 users.”
The Technology and Learning Center was previously honored for
technological innovation and imagination by the Xerox Corp.
