Jamesetta Roach, an evangelist, author and choreographer, has opened the doors to her new Christian dance studio, the Divinity Dance Studio of Praise & Fitness, located on campus the Dove Covenant Christian Church. The Divinity Studio of Praise & Fitness is located at 8919 Riverview Drive in the Riverview Plaza Mall area.
Since it’s opening on July 1, 2006, the non for profit dance studio operated by its Chief Executive, Jamesetta Roach, has a mission to empower every member to utilize their gift of dance to the fullest potential. The dancer, choreographer and instructor, leads by example. Roach says, she never imagined that her dance experience as a Visual and Performing Arts High School student and a YMCA and Wohl Community Center aerobics instructor would reach to a higher calling in establishing a dance studio.
From the beginning, she had much support and encouragement from her pastor’s Leslie and Gwendelyn DeClue of Dove Covenant Christian Church, to utilize her gift of dance in church. Roach says Pastor Leslie DeClue inspired her to create a dance ministry team so, others can display their talents and praise God in a form of dance.
Roach says, “To others it may seem as dance is becoming popular in churches now days but, dance is coming back to its origin. God created dance. She continues, “Dance can have the same affects as one singing a song, it can minister to your soul and spirit.
With dance, it can provide a more expression in movement with singing can not.” When Dove Covenant Christian Church dance ministry reached its 7th year anniversary, Roach says she was lead by God to develop the Divinity Dance Studio of Praise & Fitness Center.
The Christian dance studio is geared to all ages and ethnic groups. From 3 years of age to adults. Class registration is still open to the public. Roach offers a range of classes for a variety dancing. From gospel Hip Hop, Mime, Beginning Ballet to Prophetic Praise Dance. Her plans are underway to expand the roster in adding swimming, martial arts, and sign language classes.
Students have the opportunity to participate in studios’ annual dance recital. The recital will take place during the month June each fiscal calendar year, upon the completion of all classes. All classes are $30.00 a month without the obligation to commit to a contract.
Another aspect of Roach’s mission statement at the Divinity Dance Studio of Praise & Fitness, to encourage those of the maintenance of healthy living with proper nutritional habits. Ms. Roach offers nutrition counseling with certified nutritionist on staff to educate those about healthy eating. A biblical teaching class is offered, “Why do you Dance.” This eight week classroom course derives from a book
Roach had written, that offers a teacher to student approach on the difference of dancing for God.
Divinity Dance Studio of Praise & Fitness Center is one component of JRO Ministries. Jamesetta Roach is an active evangelist of the gospel and author of two books entailed “Why Do You Dance,” as mentioned and “Renewing Your Mind to Healthy Living.”
