“I first want to thank the Political EYE for flattering me with such extensive coverage about comments made by ‘colleagues’ of mine. I’m a big fan of the EYE, so I welcome the constructive advice and also the political insight about some of those legislators with whom I work,” writes state Rep. Jamilah Nasheed.
“The truth be told, my clashes with these colleagues has not been over legislative protocol, but policy. For instance, I am adamantly opposed to vouchers, but these colleagues support them. I have fought vigorously against the takeover of the St. Louis Public Schools, but these colleagues have been complicit with those trying to take away the right of the people to an elected school board. And I have been outspoken in my opposition to a governor and Republican Party that have callously cut health and social programs. But these colleagues, frankly, are in bed with them.”
