Our continued public family feuds do no good for community perception; they serve as a barrier to real systemic change. Instead of immersing ourselves in never-ending cycle of personalities, we should focus our energies on highlighting our systemic improvement projects and young people who excel.
By visiting the St. Louis Public Schools website, I found more of the positive images that we should be promoting, like the young people at Metro and Classical High who excelled in a Princeton Review and Charter communications vocabulary contest. Similarly, students at Dewey International Studies are learning the importance of civic involvement and charity by contributing money to the Vietnam Veteran’s Association. I was also warmed by Siteman Cancer Center helping Stowe Middle with its tobacco free contest.
Let’s take the focus off of personalities and place it on projects and young people.
