In 2004 voters soundly rejected ballot propositions ABCD which made many city offices appointed positions rather than elected ones and reduced the number of aldermen from 28 to 15. Propositions ABCD were clear attempts by the local aristocracy to subvert the citizens’ right to vote. The frontman for that anti-democratic effort was Bob Archibald, president of the board of Citizens for Home Rule.
Now, as School Board member, Archibald is saying citizens have no right to vote for their School Board leaders. As a member of Slay’s board majority, which had complete control of school policy for 3 years, they fixed nothing. The district, 2 points from full accreditation in 2003, lost 25 accreditation points.
When voters rejected Slay’s destructive policies and elected parents to the board, Archibald and Slay say those elections should be nullified and an appointed 3-member board supersede the elected one. When there is finally stability and progress, Archibald, O’Brien and Jackson continually sabotage it to give pretext for a state takeover.
Fellow citizens, nothing defines America more than its belief in democracy. When you lose the right to elect your leaders, you will have nothing else.
