U.S. Rep. Wm. Lacy Clay’s 4th Annual Career Fair is set for Monday, June 1 at Harris-Stowe State University’s Emerson Physical Education and Performing Arts Center, 3026 Laclede Ave. The event runs from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. and is free.
It will feature the top employers in St. Louis from all sectors of the local economy, along with opportunities with federal, state and local government agencies.
Among the 100 Top St. Louis employers who will be on hand are the Boeing Company; Ameren, BJC Healthcare Systems; Best Buy; Office Depot; Lumiere Place; Harrah’s; Ameristar; the U.S. Postal Service; the U.S. Census Bureau; UPS; and the FBI.
“If you’re looking for a job, or just looking for a better job, my Career Fair is the place to be,” said Clay.
“Last year, over 4,000 guests took advantage of this chance to meet and interview with St. Louis’ top employers. And once again, in addition to our wonderful local employers, we are offering a direct pipeline to over 100,000 federal jobs currently open all over the world.”
For the second consecutive year, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management will provide a one-stop shop at the Career Fair to help interested job seekers learn about, and apply for, over 100,000 federal jobs, worldwide. OPM officials will visit with applicants and conduct special break-out sessions on federal employment opportunities.

UMSL alumni job searches
University of Missouri–St. Louis alumni are receiving a temporary free pass to its web-based job search service. The service, UMSLCareerKey, is open to all students and alumni. Graduates who had been out of school two years or more were charged a $50 annual fee.
“Given the economy and the number of people who have lost their jobs, we felt eliminating the fee was the right thing to do,” said Teresa Balestreri, director of UMSL’s Career Services. “Many employers seek out the university and work through our office when they are looking for professional workers. We want our alumni to know that.”
Balestreri said this is a temporary move until the economy starts to recover. The job search software enables alumni to gain access to job leads, employer contact information, on-campus interview opportunities and resume referrals to employers. The office also offers job and internship fairs, and weekly workshops on resume writing, interviewing skills and job search strategies.
