Rosevelt Kirkwood passed away July 2, 2009 from cancer. “Mr. Kirkwood,” as he was known, owned Kirkwood Cleaners on the corner of Vandeventer and St. Louis since 1966. He was an early supporter of both inner-city Boys Clubs—Herbert Hoover and Mathews-Dickey. He contributed to many charites and was a life-long member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Kirkwood of Los Angeles, CA; two grandchildren, Ian and Porscha; nine brothers and sisters, Charles Kirkwood of St. Louis, Rufus and L.T of Helena, AK, Leroy, Glenella, Vernice, Leona, Maxine and Juanita, all of Los Angeles, CA.
