Former Jennings High basketball star Sanijay Watts has led Central Missouri State University to the top of the NCAA Division II rankings.
The Mules are currently ranked No. 1 in the latest NABC Division II poll with a 10-0 record and Watts has been the top player making happen in Warrensburg, Mo.
The 6’4” senior All-American is currently averaging 20.9 points, 9.3 rebounds while shooting 57 percent from the field. He leads the Mules in all of those categories. He is also shooting 81 percent from the free throw line.
In Central Missouri State’s last game, Watts had 33 points and 10 rebounds in a 102-81 victory over LIU-C.W. Post in Las Vegas.
As a junior, Watts led the Mules to a Final Four berth in the NCAA Division II national tournament. He averaged 15.5 points and 6.1 rebounds to lead the Mules.
Watts graduated from Jennings High in 2006 as the school’s all-time leading scorer. As a senior, he was the St. Louis American Player of the Year and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Player of the Year with Borgia’s Alex Moosman, who is a current teammate with Watts and CMSU. Watts was a two-year junior college standout before matriculating to Warrensburg, where he has been a dominant player.
