The Coalition of Black Trade Unionist, St. Louis Chapter (CBTU-STL) will sponsoring its 39th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Awards Banquet on Monday,  January 16 at Sheet Metal Workers Hall Local 36, 2319 Chouteau Ave. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner and presentations follow at 6 p.m.

Awards will be presented to the following individuals for contributions to social justice, human and labor rights in St. Louis-area communities in the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: Rasheen Aldridge, St. Louis Democratic Party 5th Ward committeeman and a former member of the Ferguson Commission; Megan Ellyria Green, St. Louis 15th Ward alderwoman; and Bruce Franks Jr., state representative for Missouri’s 78th House District and anti-violence activist.

The keynote speaker will be St. Louis Treasurer Tishaura O. Jones.

“In the spirit of labor and community solidarity, we invite you to participate in this important moment of history and celebration,” urged dinner co-chairpersons, Jay Ozier, president of STL CBTU Chapter, and Mike Ringo, treasurer of STL CBTU Chapter.
