Julius Lesus Reeves Sr., was born May 24, 1930 in Augusta, Woodruff County, Arkansas to Jerry and Lular Grant Reeves, who both proceeded him in death. He was the tenth of 10 children. His siblings Opoutria, Ivorine, Catherine, Robert, Leonard and Curtis preceded him death.
Julius graduated from Carver High School (Augusta, Arkansas) in 1950. He moved to St. Louis in 1952. On June 27, 1955, Julius joined in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Rosetta Smith. Their relationship remained faithful for 54 years. Julius worked for Green Foundry 14 years and retired from Hussman Refrigeration after 30 years of service in 1996.
Julius confessed a faith in Christ in 1943 and was baptized and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor J.T. Mitchell. He later joined West End Mt. Carmel Church under the leadership of Rev. Arthur Mitchell, where he served as a deacon for over 20 years. Julius’ final membership was with Believer’s Temple under the leadership of Bishop Calvin Scott. Julius left this earthly place to be on high with the Lord on May 13, 2010.
Julius is survived by: a loving wife, Rosetta Reeves; three siblings, Nettie B. Reeves and Berthola Patterson of Chicago, Illinois and Norvel Hall of St. Louis, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Tommie Smith (Sandy) of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Cora Spears of St. Louis, Missouri and Annie Thomas of Peoria, Illinois; four children, Donna Marie Woods, Julius L. Reeves, Jr. (Karen), Sheri Y. Wright and Jerome Reeves (Cheryl); seven grandchildren, Katina Griffin (Courtland), Diyon Coleman (Henry), Charonn Woods, Julius R. Reeves, Kanisha J. Wright, Ashton Reeves and Asia Reeves; six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services: Funeral Friday, May 21, 2010, 11 a.m. at Leonard Baptist Church, 1100 N. Compton Avenue, St. Louis. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation: Friday 9–11 a.m.
