The Special Administrative Board of the St. Louis Public School District has selected Kwame Building Group Inc. for the construction management of projects funded through Proposition S.

Proposition S, a $155 million bond passed with 76% voter approval, will provide school building repairs and upgrades designed to improve academic achievement, student safety and security, and student health and wellness.

Kwame Building Group Inc., a minority business enterprise founded by Anthony Thompson in 1991, stood out from its competitors by teaming up with four other St. Louis companies, ensuring that funding and jobs will stay within the St. Louis community. St. Louis companies assisting Kwame are Jacobs Engineering Group, Arcturis, Hudson and Associates LLC, and PGAV Planners Inc.

As the Construction Manager for Proposition S projects Kwame Building Group Inc. and team will be responsible for reviewing designs, overseeing the bidding process, providing on-site management, and recommending construction contract awards.

The selection of Kwame Building Group Inc. further illustrates the district’s commitment to minority and women owned business participation. To that end, during the Special Administrative Board meeting held October 14, 2010, the board approved goals for Proposition S Minority & Women Business Enterprise Contract Participation, including:

• 40% Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Contract Participation

• 5% Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) Contract Participation

• 40% Minority and Woman Business Enterprise Field Participation
