‘America’s Got Talent’ winner and Sikeston native Neal Boyd passes at 42

Neal E. Boyd, the opera singer who took The NBC Network show “America’s Got Talent” by storm in 2008 has passed away according to TMZ.com.

Boyd passed away from heart failure on Sunday, June 10 in his hometown of Sikeston, MO. He was 42.

Boyd won the popular network television talent competition in 2008 thanks to his rich voice.

He traveled to New York to audition for the show, where he told judges fell in love with Opera as a small child.

“When I was a kid, my brother had a book report and he brought home a copy of the Three Tenors CD and I never let it go after that,” Boyd told the judges at his audition.

He ended up being crowned winner of the show’s third season.

Boyd followed up his “America’s Got Talent” win with the release of his album, “My American Dream.

“We are very saddened to hear that one of our ‘AGT’ family members, Neal E. Boyd, has passed away,” NBC said in a statement via “America’s Got Talent” social media. “Our hearts are with Neal’s loved ones during this difficult time.””
