ST. LOUIS, MO – Midway through its campaign, United Way of Greater St. Louis reports it has raised $42.2 million toward the community goal of $71 million to help people in the greater St. Louis region. The campaign ends on November 8.

“The need is great,” said Danny Ludeman, CEO of Wells Fargo Advisors and the 2011 United Way campaign chair. “We set the goal at its largest ever so we can continue to reach the people who need help in our region. People right here are truly in need – need at a level we haven’t seen in a long time. By giving to United Way you are helping people get the services they need and, in some cases, survive.”

Ludeman continued to say, “Thousands of people and companies come together to support United Way so it can, in turn, support agencies all across the region to help people in need. This year’s campaign has started strong. We’re at the half-way point; we need to continue the momentum. We need everyone to make a pledge to united way so help is available for those who need it.”

“Everyone knows someone who is unemployed or someone who is struggling,” said Gary Dollar, president and CEO of United Way of Greater St. Louis. “When people are in need our community steps up to help. By doing so through United Way, you can be assured your donations are wisely invested in quality agencies to help people.”
