The pitching matchups for the first two games of the World Series are set, as St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said Chris Carpenter will take the ball for Game 1 tonight (Wed., Oct. 20) against the Texas Rangers’ C.J. Wilson.

Rangers skipper Ron Washington announced earlier Tuesday that Colby Lewis would be his Game 2 starter. He’ll be opposed on the mound by the Cardinals’ Jaime Garcia.

The Rangers announced Wilson as their Game 1 starter on Monday.

La Russa has set the rest of his rotation, with Kyle Lohse and Edwin Jackson taking the ball in Arlington for Games 3 and 4, respectively.

According to Espn.com, Carpenter said he will be ready for Game 1.
