The Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Solid Waste Management Program is accepting applications for fiscal year 2011 Scrap Tire Material Grants.
These grants promote the use of recycled scrap tires for playground cover or surfacing material for running tracks, walking trails or other surfacing projects.
Public schools, private schools, parks, non-profit day care centers, other non-profit organizations and governmental organizations other than state agencies, are eligible to submit applications.
The source of funds for this grant program is the 50-cent-per-tire fee collected on the sale of new tires in Missouri.
Mailed applications must be postmarked by Jan. 19. Hand-delivered applications must arrive at the department by 5 p.m. on Jan. 19.
