Alfred Page was the youngest son born to attorney Ignatius and Lena Page on December 23, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Alfred received his education from the St. Louis Public Schools, completing Lincoln Elementary and Vashon High School. He remained an active member of the Lincoln Alumni Association. He was always in pursuit of increasing his education, receiving several diplomas and certificates from International Correspondence Schools, (ICS).

As a young man, he became a part of African American history by joining the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) one of President Roosevelt’s most successful New Deal Agencies. He then traveled to the historic town Vanport, Oregon in search of employment and became one of their first black policemen.

Once resettled in St. Louis, he worked many years for E.B. Koonce Mortuary, and then as a Personnel Director with the Yeatman District Community Corporation until his retirement. Despite his other jobs, his greatest passion was the Law. He was always available to help family and friends with legal problems and took pride in never losing a case. He loved to be called “Attorney Page.”

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Rita Collins on December 21, 2002.

Alfred accepted Christ in his life at an early age. He was reconfirmed at the Christ Church Cathedral on June 9, 2001 by Bishop Hays Rockwell.

Alfred’s parents, brother Ignatius Jr., sister Beatrice, son Alfred Carlies Wallace, granddaughter Jennifer Lovett, and grandson Nicholas Grimes preceded him in death.

Alfred was also fondly known as Abbie, Crockett, Page, or Red. He was committed to providing for his family and giving fatherly love, guidance and raising all of his many children.

Our dear Alfred departed this life on December 22, the day before his 86th birthday. He had a love and a zest for living life to the fullest. He was so happy to live to see the birth of his great-grandson Alfred Page IV, another generation of the Alfred legacy.

Alfred Page leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted wife, Rita; his beloved children, Adell Hearndon, Alfred Page Jr., Kendell (Mamie) Holmes, Beryl Page Davis, Saundra Page, Mildred White, Michael Grimes and Alex Collins; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Page; sisters-in-law, Vivian Hartsfield and Jeanetta Roberts; nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
