bed hungry or even have no bed at all. We must not forget

inadequate healthcare and many other deficiencies.

15.  Ms. H.

is a homeless single mother of a disabled child. She is currently

enrolled in college and relies on her mother to drive her there. 

She is also unemployed, though actively seeking work. Ms.

H. needs a deposit for an apartment, food and clothing for

her daughter.

16.  Ms. C.

is a single mother of a six year-old. She suffers from depression. 

She does receive child support and food stamps, still does not have

enough money for her medications. She has an outstanding electric

bill due to shortage of funds.  Ms. C. has

completed the Parent Opportunity Program. She needs beds, food, a

dresser, a living room set, kitchenware and sheets.

17.  Ms. S.

is a single mother of three, two of whom attend college. The other

is in the Lift For Life Program. She has completed the CWAH Parent

Opportunity Program. Ms. S.’s low earned income

causes multiple needs, e.g., fan, heater, kitchenware, a stove, a

refrigerator, sheets a sofa, a lamp and an iron. She would like a

TV.

18.  Ms. V.

is an unemployed, single mother of one who has been living with a

family member for two years. She receives TANF and MEDICAID, yet

still lacks funds for kitchenware, bedding, a toddler bed, clothes

and toys.

19.  Ms. K.

is a single mother of two, one of whom lives with her. She has

outstanding rental and telephone bills. Although employed, she

needs assistance.  Ms. K. has an associate degree

and has completed the CWAH Parent Opportunity Program. Her wish

list includes a bed, bedding, food, a heater, kitchenware, a sofa

and chairs.

20.  Ms. W.

is a single mother of four who has completed the CWAH Parent

Opportunity  Program. Her earned income is not sufficient to

adequately provide for her family. Ms. W. needs

beds, box springs, and kitchenware. She would like a TV.

21.  Ms. W.

is an unemployed single mother of three young daughters.  One of

her daughters has a heart condition causing special needs.

Ms. W. attends junior college part time. She

welcomes any assistance that would be beneficial to her

life.

All of the above candidates are trying hard to break the vicious

poverty cycle – either through  college, GED, the CWAH Parent

Opportunity Program or aggressive pursuit of employment
