On March 12, 2016, at his home in St. Louis, Missouri, after a long illness Gary Albert Feaman, age 76, peacefully slipped into the hands of God during sleep. He was born November 14, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri to William Elen and Gladys (Foster) Feaman. Gary served his country proudly first in the United States Air Force as an aircraft instrument technician and then in the 131st Missouri Air National Guard as a security police officer. Over the course of his life he spent more than 30 years in law enforcement. In the 1980’s he was the spokesperson for the St. Louis Ethical Police Society. However, his passion was photography. In the mid-1990’s, he owned and operated GAF Recording and Photo Studio in Kirkwood, Missouri, and won awards for his photos. He loved music and enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammie Davis, Jr., and Bobby Darin. When he wasn’t listening to his favorites, Gary was watching John Wayne westerns. He was a real fan! Running was also his passion. For more than 30 years he never missed a day lapping Forest Park or any nearby track when he was out of town. As a caring father Gary received many awards for volunteering at his sons’ schools. On one occasion he caused quite a stir when he had a class of kids make their own pinhole cameras.
To carry on his memory, Gary leaves behind his devoted wife of 42 years, Angela (Kocsis) Feaman, 3 loving sons and their families Gero and Ann Feaman of St. Paul, Minnesota, Adam and Bridgette Feaman of St. Louis, Missouri, and David Feaman of Seattle, Washington, 2 brothers and and a sister and their families in St. Louis, Missouri, Charlie and Monica Feaman, Stephen and Vanessa Feaman, Karen and Melvin Gonnigan, and the children of his deceased sister Jeanne Woodall, Donna Bender (Ethan), Kenny Woodall (Lisa), Lori Schaufler (Ryan), and their families in Wisconsin. Gary touched the lives of many people during his lifetime. In the neighborhood where he spent 40 years friends and neighbors affectionately called Gary “Mr. Hamburger.” The reason for the name is lost in neighborhood lore. What can truthfully be said is that once you met Gary you never forgot him. He will be greatly missed by the many who loved him so much.
Services at Jefferson Barracks Cemetary, St. Louis, Missouri at 12:15 pm on March 17. Repast at 1:30 pm at the St. Louis Police Officers Association, 3710 Hampton, St. Louis, Missouri. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks Cemetary.
The family would like to thank Granberry Mortuary, Jennings, Missouri, for the caring attention they gave to arranging Gary’s final journey. Thank you also to all the family, friends and well-wishers who shared in the celebration of Gary’s life.
