New York Jets offensive tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson will retire after 10 NFL seasons, he confirmed to SI.com
ESPN’s Rich Cimini first reported the news.
The Jets had reportedly asked Ferguson to take a pay cut to help them make cap space to re-sign quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Ferguson was due to receive $14.1 million against the Jets’ salary cap this season, but he retires with two years remaining on his eight-year, $73.6 million contract.
Ferguson, 32, started in all 160 of the games he played over his 10 years with the Jets. According to ESPN Stats and Info, only Eli Manning has a longer streak of consecutive starts.
He was selected by the Jets with the No. 4 pick of the 2006 NFL draft, and has since been selected to three Pro Bowls.
