Tom Joyner, “the hardest working man in show biz” and possibly the most dominating jock in radio, lands his live Sky Show at the new Roberts Orpheum on Friday. The show was originally set to return to the Clear Channel-affiliated Pageant, but its recent acquisition by FOXY 95.5’s mama Radio One from Majic 104.9’s daddy Clear Channel inspired a venue change. An estimated 3,000 fans are expected to be on-hand with corporations, church organizations and individual donors to party with the purpose of funding scholarships for Harris-Stowe State College. HSSC, the HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and University) of the month, will officially become a university in August. In addition to raising loot, the live broadcast of the Tom Joyner Morning Show will feature performances by The Isley Brothers, American Idol participant Fantasia and the comedy of Bruce Bruce.
