The clip of choice during Jennifer Lopez’s recent talk show tour to promote “Monster-In-Law” features Jane Fonda smashing the singer’s head repeatedly into a table.

While the ramming-of-the-head scene is played for laughs in the film, the shooting of it was not funny at all.

“Jane is really tough. And I like to think that I’m tough sometimes, too,” J-Lo. says. “She was like, ‘Slap me. I’ll slap you.’ So that’s what we did. We wound up slapping each other a lot.”

But the method acting got a little out of hand, so to speak.

“I did get her bad in the eye,” Lopez laughs. “She says with my ring. She was like, ‘Look!!’ And she like had this blood blister. But my face was swollen, too.”

J. Lo. also worked with a male old Hollywood old head recently.

“I worked with Robert Redford, in a move called ‘Unfinished Life’ that will be out July 22, and I was telling him how ‘The Way We Were’ was one of my favorite movies. And he was like, ‘You know, it’s a shame you guys don’t have scripts like that these days’ – that are about politics and Hollywood and social issues and a love story all combined into one.”
