Actress Raven Symone is set to star in a Lifetime TV movie that will tackle racial prejudice in a small town.

Symone plays an African-American teenager who, with the help of a newspaper reporter, goes against decades of segregation to stage the first interracial high school prom. For One Night (which is a working title and may change) is set to premiere this year.

“This is an amazing and powerful story, not only about overcoming racial prejudice but also about the personal journey of one young woman who wanted to make a difference,” said Trevor Walton of Lifetime.

Symone, 19, gained fame early on with The Cosby Show, and then earned her own Disney Channel show That’s So Raven, for which she won an NAACP Image Award last year.
