Dec. 13, 1910 – Oct. 11, 2005.

In memoriam of the life of Ora Lee Brown (House). She was born Dec. 13, 1910 and departed this life on Oct. 11, 2005. Her family lived in Guthrie, Oklahoma, where she and her siblings were born. Her parents were John A. House and Mamie J. Bolton of Tennessee, who met at a church picnic.

The couple had three sons and four daughters. Elmer House and Charles House (both of whom preceded her in death) moved to Washington, D.C. as students and remained there. The four daughters, Leslie, Etheline, Doreatha and Ora, made St. Louis their permanent home until they preceded her in death.

Ora attended St. Elizabeth’s Catholic School and Banneker and Marshall Schools. Ora married, young, to William Moseley. They had two girls, Lamorn Moseley (Gates) and Pearl Moseley (Marshall). Pearl preceded Ora in death. Later, she married Elmer Watkins. They had a daughter, Marcelee Watkins (Jackson). Both husbands preceded in her death.

Ora was a devoted and obedient child who cared for her ailing parents on Bell Avenue in the city, where she also raised her three daughters until they were grown. Her daughter Lamorn was the mother of six sons, Darrick, Gregory, Michael and Russell (Michael and Russell preceeded her in death), Manuel and Craig White. Marcelee was the parent of Lesley and Rodrick Jackson.

Besides being an outstanding cook, Ora loved to dance and collect figurines. Her largest contribution to this life was caring for her family, especially her many grandchildren.

Ora leaves to mourn her a devoted daughter, Marcelee Jackson and a loving daughter, Lamorn Gates; and nieces, Shirley Calvert, Catherine Martin (Catherine preceded her in death) of St. Louis and Karen House of Washington, DC; grandchildren, Darrick, Gregory, Manuel, Micheal of Columbia and Russell of Atlanta (Michael and Russell preceded her in death) and Craig White of St. Louis, Lesley R. Jackson and Rodrick (Rod) Jackson of St. Louis also. Surviving great-grandchildren are Stacey White, Dareth White Cannon, Soncere White, Keenya Williams and Soliel White and many more great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She also left to mourn her three great nephews, Louis Calvert (Georgio), Marvin Calvert, and Ken Calvert (Frances), all of St. Louis.

Special children: Susan Watkins Bedford (David) of Las Vegas, James R. Watkins of Buffalo, N.Y., Michael Watkins of Buffalo, N.Y., Jo Ann Watkins Stringer of Canton, OH, Kim Watkins Lavka of Apex, N.C., Richard Pixely of Alaska, Linda Pixley School, Cindy Garden and Tammy Chestnut.
