While people of color – blacks, Hispanics, Orientals – are fighting for equal rights, others are setting up racial barriers. These promoters of hatred and lies are hindering the peace process, and they are targeting our children by misrepresenting themselves on the internet.

If you want a prime example, please go to www.martinlutherking.org. There you will find an organized group or movement that advocates repealing the Martin Luther King Holiday while asserting inaccurate myths and rumors about Dr. King and others. Their aim is to harm and discredit Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement.

According to the Anti-Defamation League, symbols are the most powerful communication tools that have ever existed. Because they have the ability to convey so much meaning, intent and significance in such a compact, immediately recognizable form, the effect they have is tremendous.

The animosity and antagonism these racially prejudiced idiots bring to these conflicts is highly disturbing, because they are making vicious and devaluing statements that are designed to thwart our relationship with Dr. King, the Civil Rights Movement and all that it inspired. They are working hard to discredit a movement that is so much larger than they ever imagined.

Dr. King was one of the most significant leaders in U.S. history and in the modern history of non-violence and is considered a hero, peacemaker and martyr by many people around the world. This website has been created to destroy his image and repeal the holiday.

Dr. King said, “I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become reality. I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.”

This series of attacks against The Dreamer must stop. They must be widely rejected by society, and this website should be kept from our young people’s minds. I understand the First Amendment allows this filth to exist, but we do not have to digest it and we should spread the word how harmful it is to society.

I am calling on both intellectuals and activists to join in to help halt these expressions of injurious, malicious statements about Dr. King and insure that children of all ages and persons of goodwill protect the masses from these extremists. They are targeting future generations. The truth must be told.

In his 1961 address to the AFL-CIO, Dr. King said:

“I am convinced that we shall overcome because the arc of the universe is long but it bends toward justice. We shall overcome because Carlisle is right when he says, ‘No lie can live forever.’ We shall overcome because William Cullen Bryant is right when he says, ‘Truth crushed to earth will rise again.’ We shall overcome because James Russell Lowell was right when he proclaimed: ‘Truth forever on the scaffold, wrong forever on the throne, yet the scaffold sways the future.'”

Preserve the preacher and preserve the Dream.
