April 17, 1928 – August 21, 2005
Minnie Pearl Harris was born April 17, 1928 in Darling, Mississippi to Sam and Nancy Scales. She was the oldest of six children.
Minnie accepted Christ at an early age at Calvary Baptist Church. She attended Dunbar Elementary and later graduated from Sumner High School in 1946. She was also a member of the Rhythmic Club and participated in the Y-Circus, yearly.
Minnie married the love of her life, Alexander Harris Sr., on June 15, 1947 and they were married for 58 years. Two children, Alexander Jr. and Sandra (Bonnie), were born from this union.
She committed her life to being a full-time devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was affectionately known to her family as Mama, Mother Dear, Grandmother, Ammudder and Mesh.
On August 21, 2005, God called Minnie home. She leaves precious, beautiful memories with: a beloved husband, a mother-in-law, two children, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Minnie Harris to Annie Malone Children and Family Services.
