Bobby Hoyle, a witness in a Philadelphia shooting, testified Tuesday that he lied to investigators when he connected rapper Cassidy to the murder of 22-year-old Desmond Hawkins. Hoyle and another man, Daniel Irvin, were also injured in the April 15 shooting, which took place after an argument at a drug store. Hoyle has testified that he and his cohorts went to Cassidy’s home and, upon opening the door, saw the rapper holding a firearm. Hoyle has said that Cassidy commanded the three men to go behind his home. After they walked outside the Philly row home and climbed into their vehicle, they were shot. Hoyle admitted on the witness stand that he lied when he said he saw Cassidy actually shoot a gun at them. The presiding judge set a hearing date of Aug. 16 and said that, until then, ballistics in the case will be examined further.
