Back to school season is here and as children transition to new grades or new schools, they may act out as a result of the changes in their lives. Family Support Network’s School Links program provides family and individual counseling for children whose behavior in school indicates their may be larger problems.
Families may utilize the home and school bases services of the School Links program if they live or attend school in one of the following school districts: St. Louis Public Schools – Sigel Elementary, Valley Park School District, Maplewood-Richmond Heights School district, and Lindbergh School District.
Since 1982, Family Support Network has been providing weekly home and school based counseling for families with children under 17, struggling with challenges in parenting and family functioning. Some client families are considered at high risk for abusing or neglecting their children. Others are simply breaking apart under the strain of everyday life.
Services are cost-free to families and are provided by a master’s level, licensed therapist on a weekly basis, for 6-8 months. Therapists work with parents on managing their child’s behavior, positive parenting strategies, stress management skill building, family communication, and child development information.
Family Support Network family therapist Moroline Whittington can be seen every Friday between 12:15 and 12:45 on Channel 5 providing the parenting tip of the week.
