Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce got a slice of the old adage in politics of “what goes around, comes around” at last week’s Board Of Estimate and Apportionment meeting, when Comptroller Darlene Green blocked her request to increase her budget by $120,000. Although Green would never admit that part of her opposition to Joyce’s request stems from Joyce’s treatment of Grand Jury testimony that tried to implicate Green in last year’s vote fraud trial, Joyce and the rest of the political community got the message.
Green used a velvet dagger to block Joyce’s request. And then, in what had to be an embarrassment to Joyce, Green found $60,000 in her current budget and got it transferred to her personnel budget. Joyce, a close ally and friend of Slay, got a good taste of the dessert revenge served on a bed of ice.
