After starting at the Kastle, which is now closed, and moving to Hard Rock Café, then The Vault, then City Improv, the 5 Spot is back at the Hard Rock Café, the best venue for it. Of all the spots that the 5 Spot has hit, none has been as packed as the Hard Rock Café. It’s the perfect, intimate venue for live music and vocalists. This past Sunday, Isis Jones rocked with songs from her CD WomanChild. Girlfriend was all up on the relationship thing, talking about dating married men, craving chocolate men, etc. Girlfriend threw down. Of course, the house band Level Ground and DJ Needles did their thing. Props to Needles for starting his session with Be, the first single off Common’s latest CD of the same name. The album is tight all the way through. Check it out. And check out Harry Colbert, one of the 5 Spot producers. He was too sharp and was wearing the heck out of that hat. You go, boy.
