St. Louis area mothers are expected to gather at the St. Louis County Justice Center in Clayton on Saturday, November 29 at 2:00 pm in response to the grand jury announcement. The group is gathering to call for a new grand jury with a special prosecutor, to demand a change in policing policies and procedures, and to call for an end to all gun violence around our region.
Our region is in a State of Emergency because too many of our children are dying violently. Homicides in St. Louis city are up twenty percent from 2013, and are on track to break previous records. We believe that mothers can help end the violence in our region, and are calling on them to get involved. Mothers are encouraged to bring their children to this event. For those who have lost a child to violence, they are asked to hold his/her picture during this event.
This event has been organized by three local pastors and a professor: Rev. Karen Anderson (Ward Chapel AME), Rev. Traci Blackmon (Christ the King UCC), Rev. Rebecca Ragland (Episcopal Church of Holy Communion) and Dr. Leah Gunning Francis (Eden Seminary).
Mother’s March for Justice will take place Saturday, November 29 at 2:00 PM at St. Louis County Justice Center, 100 S. Central Ave, Clayton, MO.
