The St. Louis area will be represented in this year’s NCAA Tournament as many former prep standouts will be participating.
Here is our annual look at those players from the St. Louis area who are in the NCAA Tournament.
Caleb Love (Arizona): The 6’3” guard from CBC was an All-Big XII Conference selection. He averaged 16.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists a game.
Ryan Kalkbrenner (Creighton): The 7’0” center from Trinity Catholic was the Big East Player of the Year for the fourth time in his career. He is currently averaging 19.4 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.7 blocks while shooting 65 percent from the field
Keshon Gilbert (Iowa State): The 6’4” guard from Vashon averaged 13.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists a game. He will miss the NCAA Tournament due to an injury.
Tarris Reed Jr. (Connecticut): The 6’10” forward from Chaminade averaged 9.7 points and 7.3 rebounds while shooting 67 percent from the field
Phillip Russell (VCU): The 6’0” guard from Vashon helped the Rams to the Atlantic 10 Conference title this season. He is averaging 10.6 points and 2.2 assists while shooting 36 percent from 3-point range.
Ray’Sean Taylor (SIUE): The 6’1” guard from Collinsville was the Player of the Year in the Ohio Valley Conference. He is averaging 19.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.0 steals.
Brian Taylor (SIUE): The 6’4” guard from DeSmet is averaging 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 47 percent from 3-point range.
Cam Fletcher (Xavier): The former Vashon High standout saw action in 11 games this season for the Musketeers.
Raynard Horry (SIUE): The 5’9” point guard from Christian-O’Fallon was a walk-on this season for the Cougars, who won the Ohio Valley Conference title.
