Before the kickoff of the St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers on Monday night, the loyal St. Louis Rams fan base got a chance to see and chat with some of the members from the 1999 team that went on to win Super Bowl 34. There were smiles and hugs, and good-natured ribbing. We all traveled back in time and remembered how special a time that was for the city of St. Louis.

And the way the St. Louis Rams played not only in the loss against the 49ers, but the entire season so far, gives the apathetic fan base reason to cling harder to the memories of winning, exciting football. Has it really been that long? Yes, it has been that long.

The Seattle Seahawks are coming to town this weekend, and as usual the Rams are the perfect prescription medication for an ailing team.

After watching this team play five games so far this season, and the way they continue to rack up penalties, with no pass rush, poor blocking by the offensive line, poor adjustments, miscommunication in the secondary, I could go on.

I thought this team would be way better than this on defense. Just awful football to watch, Jeff Fisher has his guy in defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, and the defense looks worse than when Tim Walton was defensive coordinator last season, before a Jeff Fisher intervention. Janoris Jenkins has played poor this season. Maybe “poor” is too kind of a word. He has trouble covering, he tends to lose sight.

Has anyone seen defensive end Robert Quinn? Look, I was glad the Rams signed him to a contract. The Rams signed the deal, and they are not reaping rewards. And it’s an undisciplined team that has a hard time playing four quarters of football. But, in retrospect you can only blame one player for so much.

I thought when former Rams safety Craig Dahl left for the 49ers he took his Bum Disease with him. I guess not, because all the things I mentioned are symptoms of Bum Disease. The Rams need to be quarantined until further notice.
