Edward Jones is the first company to donate more than $5 million to the United Way of Greater St. Louis’ annual campaign. Jim Weddle, managing partner of Edward Jones, served as United Way of Greater St. Louis’ campaign chair in 2010.
“I’d like to thank Jim Weddle and the associates of Edward Jones for ensuring that helping people is always a major part of their business,” said 2014 campaign chair Scott Schnuck.
Earlier this month, Schnuck announced this year’s campaign fundraising goal of $72.5 million. United Way’s local campaign began Sept. 2 and ends early November.
“The associates of Edward Jones have once again demonstrated their commitment to our community and supporting the great work United Way does to positively change the trajectory of so many lives in our region,” Schnuck said.
“The leadership and generosity of the Edward Jones associates is a shining example of why St. Louis is one of the most generous communities around.”
In 2013, more than 150,000 people and 2,600 businesses donated $72.25 million to United Way’s campaign. This support allows United Way to invest more than $1 million each week within the region to help one in three people through the 170 local agencies it funds.
The money raised for the local campaign will stay in the 16 Missouri and Illinois counties United Way of Greater St. Louis serves: St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles, Jefferson, Franklin, Warren, and Lincoln in Missouri; Calhoun, Green, Macoupin, Jersey, Madison, Clinton, St. Clair, Monroe and Randolph in Illinois.
